My Teaching Journey

Hi, my name is Dogan, a PMI-certified Project Manager with over 15 years of experience.

I actually started my career as a mechanical engineer, but over time, I transitioned into business analysis and project management. This shift happened naturally. I took on new challenges and explored my passion for creating value for people and organizations. Then, managing projects, analyzing complex business processes, using technology, and driving meaningful change have become the cornerstones of my career.

After more than twenty-five years in the business world—with minimal breaks and vacations rarely exceeding three weeks per year—I found myself worn out by the relentless pace of maintaining 24/7 organizational operations. Eventually, I made the difficult but necessary decision to resign.

That moment marked a turning point in my life. I finally had the chance to spend meaningful time with my family, and in doing so, I rediscovered a deep sense of joy and purpose. This shift led me to reflect on how I wanted to shape the rest of my life—with more intention, balance, and alignment with what truly matters to me.

Surprisingly, I returned to the foundational concepts of business—mission, vision, values, and strategy—not just as tools for organizations but as guiding principles for personal growth. Applying these ideas to my own life sparked a journey of self-discovery and renewal.

As a servant leader, I’ve always found fulfillment in helping others grow. My passion for teaching began during my university years when I tutored high school students and served as a teaching assistant. Throughout my professional journey, I’ve continued this path—mentoring colleagues and sharing insights gained from managing a wide range of projects, from the operational to the strategic.

For the past six years, I’ve worked as an instructor, primarily with experienced business professionals, focusing on project and change management. I believe effective teaching requires careful planning, empathy, and a deep understanding of learners' needs. To me, education is not just about delivering content—it’s about preparing individuals to face real-world challenges with confidence and competence.

Joining the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program is a continuation of this journey. It is an opportunity to refine my teaching practice, connect with fellow educators, and expand my perspective. I plan to learn new approaches, reflect on my current methods, and become a more impactful and learner-centered instructor.
