The Voice of a Servant Leader

Carlos Kleiber

Carlos Kleiber was an Austrian conductor who is widely regarded as among the greatest conductors of all time.

In one of his rehearsals, he shared the following with his orchestra;

This should be performed with such mastery that I become entirely redundant. That's my dream. And since we have time, perhaps I can realize it, especially with you. So that there isn’t anything slowing us down. So that there’s nothing leading to surrender.”

This is the voice of a servant leader.

The challenges of today’s business world require such leaders. The popularity of agility is also very much related to the mindset presented perfectly by Carlos Kleiber 50 years ago.
